Our Shared Europe reading
An event organised by the British Council.11 November 2010, Ballhaus Naunystraße, Berlin, 20 hrs
The Our Shared Europe project is part of the British Council's commitment to provide a platform for dialogue between different cultures.
Under this umbrella, at the Our Shared Europe reading in Berlin four literary authors with roots in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and Sudan and a close link to the UK, asked questions about a new society which allows for people to live together even though they might be very heterogenous, a society, that acknowledges talents, and a society, that fosters interest in each other. Not least against the background of the current debate in Germany it surely was fruitful to have a look at how societies in other countries are developing.
At an event curated by Ahdaf Soueif and hosted by Ballhaus Naunystraße, these four authors read from their works : For more information on the authors, please see our page on the Our Shared Europe Literature Seminar that took place from 12-14 November 2010.
